(Hitchcock VS. De Palma – From Plagiarism to Tribute: a Documentary About the Similarities Between ‘Psycho’ and ‘Dressed to Kill’)

Synopsis
The documentary consists of reopening the discussion about the controversy created in the early 1980s, that Brian De Palma plagiarized the film “Psycho” (1960) by Alfred Hitchcock, when he released the film “Dressed to Kill” (1980).

Through a film analysis, it was possible to counteract the controversy of plagiarism and be able to reach the status of a “tribute” which De Palma and his film “Dressed to Kill” made to Hitchcock and his film “Psycho”. To get to this point, we have exclusive interviews with film critic Rubens Ewald Filho and semiotician Lúcia Santaella, bringing interpretations on the subject. Also, the film displays a montage where one can notice the most visible similarities between the two films.
